copy of Japanese coin ring - 100 Yen Cherry Blossoms
I make this ring out of two coins: 100 Yen coin from Japan. It features Cherry Blossoms, a national symbol of Japan and a reminder to appreciate the beauty of ephemeral things. These coins were minted from 1967-1988 and are copper-nickel. I curved the coin and applied a patina to make the details pop.
Lettering:
日 本 国
百 円
Translation:
State of Japan
100 yen
I made the band out of a silver (.900) US dime from before 1964. You have the option of preserving the writing on the US dime or we can do a hammered finish where no writing remains.
The main coin is slightly smaller than a US quarter.

NOTES ABOUT METAL COMPOSITION:
Most of the skin contact is with the silver (.900) dime band. The main coin contains copper and is unsealed.
