South Africa 5 Rand - Handcut Pendant - Wildebeest - Gnu - two tone - Bimetallic
Hand-cut using a bow drill and a jeweler's saw, I cut away the negative space to make the image pop!
This pendant, made from the highest denomination coin of South Africa, the Five Rand, features the black wildebeest also called White-Tailed Gnu. Because I am featuring the tails side of the coin, the heads side is not really meant to be featured although some of its details has been preserved like the year of the coin.
Diameter of the coin is 26mm. It has an interesting edge and is 3mm thick. This pendant weighs .28 ounces. The coin is Bimetallic with a brass center in copper-nickel ring.
As a pendant it comes on a stainless steel, double jump ring with a free stainless steel ballchain (Size #3).
As a keychain it comes on a larger double jump ring.
