Puerto Rico - El Yunque Silver Quarter ring with silver dime band
Item in photo is the exact item for sale. I made this ring out of two coins: the main coin is a 90% (.900) silver US Quarter from the "America The Beautiful" series. These are the special collector's editions of the regular quarters in circulation. I made the band out of a 90% (.900) silver US dime from before 1964.
This piece depicts a Coqui tree frog sitting on a leaf and a Puerto Rican parrot, also known as la iguaca, behind an epiphyte plant with tropical flora in the background. The Puerto Rican parrot is a highly endangered species unique to Puerto Rico, and its recovery began with the few birds left in El Yunque. Design candidates of this coin were developed in consultation with representatives of El Yunque National Rain Forest.
